FIELD OBSERVATIONS — MARCH 24, SITE: INTERIOR
Specimen exhibits nine distinct growth rings, though only four
complete their circuit. The remaining five spiral into arrested
development—calcified mid-turn, like a sentence abandoned
before the verb.
Coloration: magenta bleeding into green at overlap zones.
This is not mixing. This is two things refusing to become
a third thing.
At the core: a hollow approximately 2mm in diameter.
Upon magnification, the hollow contains a figure.
Upon further magnification, the figure contains a hollow.
Timestamps recovered from the substrate suggest activity
between 08:11 and 23:47, with no interval exceeding
22 minutes. The organism appears to have fed continuously
without metabolizing.
Note: the outermost ring is nearly invisible. Whether this
represents the newest growth or the oldest erosion
cannot be determined without destroying the sample.
