FIELD NOTE — Kāpiti Coast, 06:47 NZST
Subject: Convergence event, observed from carpark.
The beam arrived before the meeting.
I noted it at 14.91 and falling,
which is to say the air had opinions
but kept them close to the skin.
Cloud cover: 75%, angular, jigsaw-locked.
No rain. Humidity legible as a softness
in the corners of things — the fencepost,
the dashboard, the half-thought
I carried from the house like a plate
I forgot to put down.
Wind at 9.26 — units unspecified,
which is how the coast prefers it.
Directional. Pushing everything slightly
east of where it meant to go.
One meeting on the calendar.
One hour, blue, translucent
when held against the morning.
I could see through it to the clouds.
Presentation notes: semi-transparent.
Conclusion: semi-transparent.
The crimson dot at the center
of every agenda nobody names.
Amber underneath. Always amber underneath.
