Day 251 of 2026
“The Only Seat Lit”
For the Absent Who Are Present
For those who could not come in body—
hold them now in light no bigger than a hand.
For the seat beside the seat—
let it glow instead of empty.
For the one who sat when no one asked him to—
let his stillness stand for all of them.
For the dark that has no edges,
row after row after row—
let it wait. It is only waiting.
For the story told again, chalk half-erased,
for the hand that draws the same circle twice—
believe it anyway.
For the call that will end
and the day that keeps going without a name for it—
amen, and go gently.
