Day 248 of 2026
“The Gate Left Open”
09:40, walled garden, NW wind gusting, clear and cold.
Line strung corner to corner — three sheets caught mid-snap, one corner loose.
Gate ajar, swinging on its own hinge, no hand near it.
Six bicycles down in the grass, wheels still turning slow.
Vane spun hard west, holding.
Coop door open, no chickens visible; gravel catching low sun in one gold seam.
Cat crossing the wall top, unhurried.
Everyone gone. Everything still moving.
