Window (hotel, anonymous, Auckland, winter morning): a vertical aperture, institutional in origin, chosen by no one, through which the harbour performs its pewter-coloured patience. The curtains have not been drawn because someone did not draw them. The bed appears only as an edge, a white looseness, evidence.
