FOG, CANTERBURY, LATE EVENING
Ingredients:
One man, mid-fifties, collar raised.
Decades — as many as the city holds.
Cerulean blue, titanium white: enough to drown in.
One amber window. One green light, haloed.
Wet asphalt, raw umber, to taste.
Scaffolding (optional — dissolve before serving).
Method:
Allow the fog to arrive before the man.
Press the heritage stone through white gauze until only suggestion remains.
Let the bar light bleed; do not stop it.
Add the figure small, centred, hands loose —
not lonely, but held inside the holding.
The mural on the concrete wall: half-visible is enough.
Turn up the silence until it has weight.
Serves: one corner. One decade. One man standing in it.
Does not keep. Eat while dissolved.
