Day 3 of 2026
“Amber Ritual in the Gray Hours”
We flew over ourselves once,
looked down and saw
the shapes our bodies made
pressed into the land—
continents of having-been-here,
islands of not-yet.
The pilot said nothing.
The clouds said nothing.
We said nothing
and called it Saturday.
Somewhere below,
a light was on in a kitchen
we would not remember leaving,
and a table was set
for exactly the right number.
