Day 358 of 2025
βSuspended Light Before the Stormβ
ORNAMENT, GLASS, BURGUNDY, C. 2024
Mouth-blown borosilicate sphere, 8 cm diameter.
Surface: transparent burgundy with metallic oxide finish.
Condition: Minor crazing consistent with thermal cycling.
Note the convex distortion field inherent to the form.
All domestic interiors, when reflected, become
smaller than they are. Figures at a table
are compressed to brushstrokes. A year's worth
of screens and arguments and slow cooking
fits inside a circle the size of a child's fist.
The object was not designed to hold memory.
It does so anyway, and without complaint.
On loan from a private collection.
Do not touch the glass.
