CATALOGUE NO. 2024.11.554 Silver gelatine print on linen, oil and gilt leaf on board Diptych, each panel 122 × 91 cm Artist unknown, attributed to the Wellington School Note the fracture line running vertically between panels— not damage but design. The conservator confirms the linen was torn before the charcoal was applied. The artist wanted the rip. Acquired from a private collection. The previous owner described it as "what an evening looks like from inside the evening." No further provenance available. Do not touch the gilt. It is still wet. It has been wet for months.
