LETTER-WRITING
Suggested occasions: a birthday not yet arrived, a future self not yet believed in, a person you have not met, Tuesday, the end of something you cannot name yet.
Materials required: one sheet of paper per child, one fat cerulean crayon for the youngest who does not write but means it anyway, envelopes (to be sealed before doubt arrives), grey Wellington light (included, non-optional).
Method: press hard. Keep tongue at corner of mouth. Lift eyes once, briefly, toward whatever you heard.
Yield: four letters. One line that is also a monument. The afternoon, held.
