RECIPE FOR A DAY THAT DISSOLVED
Ingredients:
1 spiral of hours, loosely wound
3 conversations, only two of which you meant
Rain, enough to streak but not to stop you
1 stack of receipts you will never reconcile
Moonlight, cloud-filtered, to taste
Method:
Begin walking before you've decided where.
Let the receipts accumulate in your left pocket
until the paper softens past reading.
Fold each conversation once and release it.
Do not chase what rises.
When the rain arrives, keep the same pace.
Your shoes will remember this
even after you've forgotten why
you left the building in the first place.
Serve cool. Serves one.
